RODRIGUES TOURISM OFFICE

This project was the complete renovation of an old colonial building. Nestled in the heart of Port Mathurin in Rodrigues Island. Built in 1879 this government building is now used by the Rodrigues Tourism Office. The renovation involved re-looking the entire building inside and out and creating a new tourist information center in the main open space to showcase Rodrigues culture and lifestyle providing information about the island, places to visit, eat, stay, some history and activities on offer in the Island. The offices were also renovated to create a directors office / meeting room, 2 closed offices, staff mess room and toilets. DE LA HAYE INTERIORS worked with local artisans to implement the new design concept which reflects a rustic, island feel using natural elements such as thatch, recycled materials, natural wood and hand woven rattan. The building was reopened at an inauguration ceremony by the Prime Minister of Mauritius Hon. Pravin Kumar Jugnauth and Mr Louis Serge Clair Chief Commissioner and Minister for Tourism in Rodrigues.
